Caring for South Asian skin in a Scottish winter

Why winter hits harder

Cold wind and dry indoor heat pull moisture out of the skin. On deeper skin tones the result often shows as ashiness and dullness before it shows as flaking, so it's easy to miss what's actually dryness.

SPF is not a summer thing

UV drives pigmentation all year, and pigmentation is the concern we hear most from South Asian clients. A daily SPF in December does more for even tone than any brightening product in June.

In the salon

Hydration-led facials earn their keep in winter: the Hydra Facial (£45) for an immediate moisture reset, or Pear & Diamond (£35) if dark patches are the bigger worry.

At home

Swap to a gentler cleanser, use a heavier moisturiser at night, and don't wash your face with hot water, however tempting the weather makes it.
